At the aIAM Holistic Wellness Center, we passionately believe that natural healing options should be available to everyone. Staffed with both licensed and intern acupuncturists, we offer an array of care options to fit each client’s individual needs and to accommodate all budgets. Your appointments provide our interns with valuable observation and hands-on training.

aIAM’s acupuncture program is a Master’s degree based on Traditional Medicine. Acupuncture faculty can prescribe herbs if your condition can benefit.

All acupuncture services and descriptions are listed below. 

Traditional acupuncture is performed using very fine needles. It’s used to treat a wide variety of ailments and conditions. Its goal is to re-establish balance and restore better levels of health. Acupuncture can help treat : anxiety, depression, stress, insomnia some upper respiratory conditions, lower back pain, arthritis, MS, cataracts, dental pain, neck pain, labor pain, and more!

Fire cupping is the practice of putting heated glass cups on the skin for a few minutes to generate suction. It increases blood flow and the rate of healing. It is often used to treat plantar fasciitis, back, hip and IT band problems, pain in shoulders, upper back and neck pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and respiratory problems related to the common cold.

The AIAM Herbal Medicine Clinic dispenses herbs in a concentrated granule form. The herbs are mixed with hot water and drunk as a tea, usually twice a day. Our herbs have been tested to unsure that they are of the highest quality, pesticide free, and safe for human consumption. Herbal therapy can be used to treat a range of conditions such as: insomnia, stress, anxiety, depression, digestive problems, skin issues, women’s health issues, men’s health issues, migraines, long COVID symptoms, and the common cold, just to name a few!

Gua Sha is the method of using a smooth-edged tool to stroke your skin while pressing on it. This can raise small, red, rash-like dots on the skin called petechiae. It can reduce inflammation which is commonly seen in chronic pain or treat internal problems, such as respiratory infection.

Cosmetic Acupuncture is a non-surgical method of reducing signs of the aging process, resulting in increased elasticity, firmness, reduced fine lines, a smoother complexion and overall texture. Cosmetic acupuncture can influence the long-term health of the skin rather than just the superficial signs of again.

Baby getting Tui Na

Acupuncture and related therapies include the non-invasive stimulation of acupoints, use of moxibustion and Tui Na which can help with pediatric pain, cerebral palsy, nocturnal enuresis, tic disorders, nausea and vomiting, digestive disorders, autistic spectrum disorder, respiratory disorder, attention deficit disorder, among others. It can also be used as a preventative approach to colds and reducing the spread of infection in the body to shorten the duration of illness.

Acupuncture can offer relief from cravings, promote healing and recovery from addiction. This can include food addiction, smoking, alcohol addiction, drug addiction, and more. Your clinician may place small seeds on acupuncture points on the ears that you can stimulate manually to reduce cravings between appointments. The treatment plan is two treatments per week for four weeks, each appointment being 45 minutes long.

Addictions

Moxa is made from the herb mugwort. In acupuncture, moxa is placed near the skin to warm the area or placed on top of the acupuncture needle to warm the area for the purpose of aiding in the flow of Qi.

Tui na (sometimes written Tuina) is a form of Chinese massage. This is not like a western medical massage, but rather combined kneading, pressing, rolling, and stretching muscles. Tui Na treats muscle tension and promotes qi and blood flow throughout the body. This is performed during a regular acupuncture appointment, just ask!
